For history buffs, the USS Midway Museum is an excellent way to spend a day. Located at the Navy Pier, it’s housed in the aircraft carrier, Midway. Other museums of interest include the San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego Museum of Man, Maritime Museum of San Diego and San Diego Museum of Art.
SeaWorld offers a wide variety of exhibits, shows, and rides for all ages. There are a number of shows and rollercoaster rides.
Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre urban cultural park in San Diego. In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theatres, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.
Head over to Belmont Park situated on the surf and sand of Mission Beach. It is San Diego's only beachfront amusement centre. From the Giant Dipper rollercoaster and the plunge swimming pool to the famous simulated surf machines and three dynamic ocean view restaurants, you will find something for everyone here.
With 70 miles of beautiful beaches, countless parks and gardens, and endless opportunities for pampering at one of the numerous spas and resorts; San Diego is an excellent destination for some rest and relaxation.
Day Trips From San Diego
Los Angeles is easy to reach if you hire a car. Visit Hollywood and the famous Hollywood sign. Stroll along the walk of fame in front of the TCL Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard and enjoy a number of other attractions here.
Alternatively, why not go for a drive in Anza Borrego Desert State Park, the largest state park in California? It is home to a variety of amazing wild flowers and plants which bloom in the early spring.
Although many car hire suppliers at San Diego do not allow their vehicles to be taken across the Mexican Border, there are a number of organised tours which you can join. This gives you chance to explore Mexico for a bit. Either that or park your car on the USA side and walk across into Tijuana.
