Sightseeing in Norfolk
Head to the city centre of Norfolk and tour the art museums. These include The Attucks Theatre and the d’Art Centre. Indulge in a round of golf at the Lake Wright Golf Course and go for a stroll along the Elizabeth River Trail.
Go to the zoo at the Virginia Zoological Park in Norfolk. It covers a 53 acre site and is home to a range of animals from lions and black bears to bald eagles and orang-utans. The zoo also contains a range of gardens each with their own theme such as the tropical garden and the African village garden.
Go shopping at one of the many shopping and retail outlets. The MacArthur Centre is one of the larger shopping malls on offer in Norfolk, filled with a range of outlets and shops along with many eateries and restaurants to choose from.
Explore Virginia
Journey to Chesapeake. Spend some time at the Dismal Swamp Canal, which, despite its name, is beautiful. Why not arrange a cruise along the Elizabeth River?
Travel to Virginia Beach. Hire a bicycle and see the sights in a slightly different way. Take the children to Captain Jack’s Pirate Ship, or if you get the opportunity, go to Knotts Island.
Head out from Norfolk and begin exploring the State of Virginia. The nearby city of Richmond is a short drive away to the north east. Further to the north is the capital of the USA, Washington D.C. This offers plenty to see and do, from tours of the White House to visiting the Lincoln Memorial.
