The neighbouring cities of Rotherham and Chesterfield are within a reasonable distance, so you’ll certainly find plenty to amuse you during your stay here.
Explore Sheffield
If you are visiting Sheffield in spring or summer then a trip to the Botanical Gardens is worthwhile. They are actually Grade II listed and feature a variety of music and theatrical performances too. The Winter Garden housed within a large greenhouse is also especially spectacular all year round.
The shopping haven of Meadowhall is a great place to head if you fancy a spot of retail therapy. The stores here range from designer to high street so will suit every taste. If you fancy a bite to eat afterwards, travel back into the city centre and seek out the Moor Market for an array of foodie treats.
If you want to learn more about Sheffield’s industrial history then head to the Kelham Island Museum. Explore the steel exhibition and discover more about the industry for which Sheffield is famed. If you have the kids in tow, then the Melting Shop also has plenty to keep them entertained.
Around the Sheffield Area
Chatsworth House is located within the Peak District and is well worth a day out. Start off by exploring the house itself, which is filled with period features. Saunter around the gardens and spot the sculptures littered throughout too. There is also a farmyard and adventure playground for the little ones too.
Ladybower Reservoir is also found in the Peak District and the surrounding area offers some fantastic walks. Alternatively, you could drive along the beautiful, winding roads of Snake Pass.
Drive to Brodsworth Hall and Gardens and take a step back to Victorian times. Finish off your day in the tea room and sample some of the scrumptious cakes.
