The house and grounds are both open to visitors and after you have explored them you can get some food from one of the incredible restaurants.
If you like fun-filled adventures then make sure that you visit Alton Towers. The theme park is only a short drive to the west of the city and is a must for all families. Test your nerve on the numerous white-knuckle rollercoasters before seeing a show in 4D and visiting the water park.
Another family attraction within easy reach of Derby is Conkers, in the National Forest. There are a mix of indoor and outdoor activities which means that you can enjoy yourself whatever the weather. You and your family will be engaged for hours with the activity centre, various outdoor exploits, such as pond dipping and kayaking, and over 120 acres of woodland, lakes and gardens.
The Heights of Abraham is the oldest attraction in the Peak District and it’s still going strong. The cable car ride in itself is worth the journey as you get amazing views of the surrounding landscapes. Once at the top of the cable car there is still plenty to see and do. You can explore the caverns, head on a woodland walk, or visit the picnic and adventure playground areas.
