What is There to See in Bournemouth?
Bournemouth is brimming with parks and gardens to stroll around. Enjoy a tranquil afternoon ambling around the Lower, Central and Upper Gardens. In summer, the Lower Gardens are a hive of activity. Alum Chine is home to a fabulous tropical garden and is well-worth a visit for something a little different.
If you are itching to go for a nice stroll, then embark on the Boscombe Pier to Bournemouth Pier Walk. At about 1 mile long, it’s not a long hike by any means, but it will present you with a myriad of things to do along the way. View the rows of beach huts, artificial surf reef and Oceanarium amongst plenty more.
There is also a Coastal Activity Park located in Bournemouth. If you have brought the kids along, then they can sample the array of climbing options available. In the meantime, you can snorkel and view the marine life here too. If you want to get fit during your stay, the Outdoor Gym is also worth a look.
Out and About Near Bournemouth
For some family fun, why not head to Paultons Family Theme Park? Home of Peppa Pig World, this is the perfect place to visit if you have young children. For the adults there is Adventure Golf too, and many gardens to wander around.
Hop in your rental car and drive for just over an hour and you will reach Stonehenge. Marvel at this pre-historic monument then explore the visitor centre to try to work out what the purpose of Stonehenge was in the first place.
With the New Forest on your doorstep, it would be a real shame if you didn’t spend at least a day here. Filled with historic houses, parks, gardens and museums, there is plenty to see here. Pack your hiking boots and explore the landscape on foot as well.
The South Downs National Park is also fairly close to Bournemouth. A haven for cyclists, horse riders and ramblers, make sure that you saunter through the variety of river valleys and woodlands.
