Birmingham Airport is an easy 20 minute drive away from the city centre in your rental car.
Sightseeing in Birmingham
Birmingham is the second most populated city in the UK, after London. Its central location makes it a great place to base yourself when visiting the UK because there is so much within reach.
Birmingham also has lots of attractions of its own. The ‘Thinktank’ Science Museum is a fantastic place to visit and it’s one of the most modern science museums in the UK. It can be a great day out for all ages and the Big Screen attraction provides a more immersive experience than an ordinary cinema.
If science isn’t your thing then don’t worry because you can visit the Cadbury World Chocolate Factory. It is perfect for chocolate-loving kids and adults alike. There are tours of the factory available where you will learn about the origins of chocolate and the manufacturing process, whilst tucking into complementary samples. In addition to free chocolate there are rides and a well-stocked giftshop to keep you entertained.
Also, be sure to visit the National Sea Life Centre where there are 55 underwater displays to view. This conservation centre has a 360° tunnel where you can watch sharks, stingrays and other sea life swim around you. This, again, is a great day out for adults and families.
Day Trips From Birmingham

The picturesque house is a great place to spend a day immersing yourself in history and settling into a slower pace of life. There is also a museum to visit and a guided tour included in the entry fee.
Under an hour’s drive away is the spectacular Warwick Castle. It is really worth a trip if you are interested in history. The castle has multiple displays on throughout the year including archery, birds of prey and the trebuchet show. Alongside these fantastic displays the castle is a stand-alone attraction and it has been voted as one of the best historical attractions to visit in the UK.
