Everything was well organised. The car was fine but did have a lot of little marks and bumps on collection. This didn’t bother me but might some people. I had to change the dates on my booking and Zest were very helpful and effient on this. Always use them for my car hire.

I crashed the rental Ford Galaxy making it undriveable after only six miles from picking it up. I sheepishly called Autos Aguirres office to let them know expecting a rather frosty reception. However I was very surprised that they took it all in their stride. A recovery truck was arranged to collect the incapacitated car and the manager of Autos Aguirres personally delivered a replacement vehicle to us at the side of the road. Never once was I made to feel like the bad guy as they were very sympathetic. If I could say one thing it would be to take out the extra insurance to cover the excess and uninsured loss. It saved me a very sizeable amount and a lot of worry.

I chose Zest / Espacar following reading a Guardian article about the terrors of the car hire sector for customers. Zest was Which? approved which influenced me. We attended a family wedding in Spain, my brother hired a car from Avis, the office is near the Espacar office. Upon his return he has seen a £788 additional charge placed on his card for an unknown reason. This typifies the reasons for most car hire companies being mistrusted and held in low regard. Whenever I hear acquaintances needing to hire a car I forward them the Guardian article. With thanks. Lance Gray
