Best Beaches in Cancun
Cancun and its surroundings are home to numerous beaches. Playa Las Perlas is the nearest and stays fairly calm. This makes it a good choice if you have the kids in tow.
Playa Langosta is a little further along the coastline, but can be a little busy as many boats and ferries moor up here. The local seafood restaurant here offers great food and lovely views to boot.
Our last beach tip is Playa Chac Mool. The wind can be an issue here at times, which is great if you enjoy water sports. If you are just looking for a spot for a swim, try and head here on a day when the weather is calmer.
Fancy Scuba Diving or Snorkelling?
There are some beautiful coral reefs located close to Cancun. Make the most of these by snorkelling or scuba diving. There's nothing quite like seeing them with your own eyes.
The nearest reef is located off the coast of Isla Mujeres, named Manchones. There are also some other things to enjoy here, so why not make a day of it?
The best place to visit for this is definitely Cozumel. This is a 3 hour drive from Cancun, but really is a diver’s heaven. There are numerous reefs located around the island, too many to name. To get there, simply travel to Playa del Carmen and get the ferry over to Cozumel.
Chichén Itzá
It goes without saying that during your trip to Mexico, you will probably arrange to explore the Mayan ruins of Chichén Itzá. Drive there in your hire car and it will only take you about 2 hours. The Kukulkan Pyramid is no doubt the most famous image that you’ll have seen. That said, make sure that you take some comfortable walking shoes and explore the whole site thoroughly.
