Start by visiting the capital Thira, or Fira as it is sometimes spelt. It is a far cry from other capitals you may have visited, verging more on the side of a large town than a city. Day Trips on Santorini!
Drive 10km to the village of Oia, a favourite among tourists and locals alike. Famous for its gorgeous sunsets, blue topped churches and narrow streets, allocate a few hours to the many art galleries and follow it with a locally caught fish meal.
For a different beach experience, head to Red Beach near to the village of Akrotiri. The beach is unique as it is made up of reddish black sand with a magnificent red and black volcanic rock backdrop and hot water!
Visit Messaria, located almost in the centre of the island, for a stroll around the quaint village. Embrace the culture and stop in one of the quaint tavernas for a drink or bite to eat before heading back to the coast to explore Athiniois Port and the area of Pyrgos. Stroll to the Venetian castle, surrounded by traditionally built houses and explore the Monastery of Profitis Ilias.
