James Dingle - Jersey Airport, 3 years ago
Small but perfectly formed, Jersey is a surprise to all who visit. Packed full of family fun, the landscapes will remind you of traditional English panoramas, mixed with French sophistication in equal measure.
You can arrive at the charming island of Jersey, either by boat heading into the port at St Helier, or by plane where you will land at Jersey Airport, close to St Peter. Jersey is one of the most well-known of the Channel Islands, and is perfect for a tranquil break away. Hire a car and explore as soon as you arrive.
The capital of the island, St Helier is the largest town here. Step back in time and take a trip to the Jersey War Tunnels. This will give you a fascinating, yet chilling insight into the experiences of those that fought here during WWII.
For something a little different, if you are a Nigel Mansell fan then head to the Mansell Collection. A wonderful museum full of memorabilia, it’s a great place to spend some time if you’re interested in Formula 1.
Elizabeth Castle is no longer in use, but it is also open to the public, accessible at low tide on foot, or via wading vehicle from St Helier, make sure you pay a visit.
If you’re heading to Jersey for a golfing weekend, you’ll be spoilt for choice; visit the Royal Jersey Golf Club that offers visitors access to over 135 years of golfing expertise. La Moye Golf Club is also worthy of a visit, as is Les Mielles Golf and Country Club.
When you’ve exhausted the courses, visit Mont Orgueil. Located in Gorey and dating back to 1204, the castle is now open to the public and should not be missed.
When you are thinking of a beach break, Jersey may not be the first place that springs to mind. There are some wonderful stretches of golden sand here, some that are perfect for a spot of surfing. St. Brelade's Bay Beach has great facilities and is easily accessible. The beach at Plemont Bay offers fantastic views and a marvellous sunset view too.
