There’s less than two weeks to Father’s Day so if you want to buy a gift, but haven’t got around to it yet, then you’ve got to get your skates on. As we did with Mother’s Day earlier in the year, we list some of our favourite travel-inspired gifts for your country-hopping Dad (or Grandad!). We’ve got gifts for all budgets so there’s bound to be something that catches your eye- and even if it doesn’t fit your budget, it will give you some inspiration from where to go. The ideas could even come in handy for Christmas or birthday gifts!

Luggage

With changes to flight luggage changing, it’s more important than ever to ensure your hold luggage is secure. These cases from Victorinox (Swiss Army) (from £360) are designed to be lightweight while still providing that all-important protection. Alternatively, there’s the higher cost aluminium cases from Rimowa (upwards of £539). For a hard shell on a smaller budget, try this Delsey suitcase (£153) available in red or blue. We couldn’t afford these cases from Rolls Royce, but we’re a car hire broker after all so had to mention them. The collection will set you back around £24,000!

Luggage tags

NotOnTheHighStreet is a favourite of the Zest office – so many choices! These hand-stamped leather luggage tags can be personalised with up to 11 characters on two lines each for £10.

Security luggage tags are also recommended, so consider this one from Dynotag priced at £14.95. Easily access information stored on the tag by QR code so should your bag get lost, owner details can easily be retrieved. There’s also GPS tracking so you can locate your lost bag.

Going from the lost or stolen trend, consider a Tile if your Dad is conscious about losing items or having things stolen. Download the Tile app to his phone and it’ll help track it and ring it when on silent in case he misplaces it. There’s even a thin credit-card sized version, perfect for fitting in wallets and tracking those down. Products range from £23. Tiles can even be fitted to remote controls, bicycles or money clips. Bluetooth software within the tile helps locate items and record their last known position.

Watches

If your Dad loves water sports then a water-resistant watch is a must. Swiss Army gets mentioned again here for these higher-budget examples (from £495) which have withstood 130 tests to get that special guarantee for durability if you’re a diver. Explore depths of up to 300m with these watches from Luminox (from £235, depending on location), featuring designs from counter-terrorism expert and undersea explorer, Scott Cassell.

Casio has always been well-known with sports and outdoor pursuits, offering some more budget-friendly options priced from £45.

Drones

These fun new gadgets are rising in popularity. What better way to get a full appreciation of your holiday surroundings than with a drone? Variously priced options are available, but as with anything, the better quality often comes with the higher price tag. GoPro sell their Karma model, which includes a Hero 5 Black, for £1199.99 or the DJI Mavic Pro from Argos sells for a similar price (£1099). Argos also stock the cheaper Parrot Bebop Drone for £299.99. Perhaps a better option for those taking to the sky for the first time.

Handheld GPS

For those who love hiking or exploring off the beaten track, a handheld GPS device is a must to help them explore. Garmin are always trusted in this area and the eTrex 20x comes recommended and is budget-friendly too. Wiggle currently stock it at £145.52. If your Dad likes exploring, geocaching could be a great new hobby for him to take up.

Golfing

Many Zest travellers love going to Portugal to hit the fantastic courses on offer. There are a wealth of gadgets on offer to suit any level of skill. Consider a ball washer to keep golf balls free of dirt (£5.89 from Amazon) or a ball pick up to avoid bending down to collect balls (£2.92 from Amazon). For something a bit more expensive to help your Dad improve his game, consider this Swing Analyser (£129.99). The gadget is fixed to the players’ hand to record the movement of the swing which can then be played back in 3D on your phone. If you’d like something more personal for him, this leather scorecard holder is priced at £55 with 4 different colours to choose from.
