#1 Security deposits can be confusing things. We get lots of questions about how they work, and people looking for reassurance that it’ll be as they think. A common one is people asking whether the no deposit option does what it says on the tin. It’s a simple answer when it comes to Zest.

I’ve selected the “No Deposit” filter on your search results page, can you just confirm that this 100% means there won’t be a deposit to leave?

Yes, this means you won’t have to leave a security deposit. You will still need a valid credit card in the name of the main driver though. This card will still be recorded when collecting the car but no amount will be pre-authorised. This is to ensure the safe return of the car.


#2 Another common one about security deposits is people not having a credit card. A common and understandable issue, some people don’t like the idea of credit cards or are just not in a position where they need or want one.

Hi, I am looking to rent a car in XXXX yet I do not own a credit card. Is it possible to use a debit card and give a security deposit? Best, XXXX.

Hey, yep it is possible to use a debit card but it does depend on the location and providers available there. If you let us know your locations and dates we can see if any providers there allow you to use a debit card. Alternatively, give our customer service team a call and they’ll be able to help.

#3 Last on the list about security deposits is whether a credit card is needed even when booking a no security deposit car. We see why this can be a bit confusing but it’s simple enough to understand.

I booked a car with no security deposit, but it says I still need a credit card when picking up? Is this the case?

Hey, yes you’ll still need a valid credit card in the name of the main driver when collecting the car. The card won’t be pre-authorised but will still be taken on record. This is simply to ensure the safe return of the vehicle.

#4 Some people need to book cars for longer than your typical 2 week trip to Portugal. We do get a lot of questions from people who need to book car hire outside of the usual booking criteria.

Could you accommodate a booking for over 90 days?

Hey, sorry but for a majority of locations and providers, we can’t accommodate bookings over 90 days. There are certain locations and providers who may be able to do it but it’s not common. The best way to check for your location is to chat with our customer service team on 01362 852288.


#5 Sometimes people find it easier to ask for a car hire quote through Facebook. If you’re on Facebook on your phone already why not?

#6 Lots of people ask for help choosing the exact car they’ll need for their trip. If you’re going somewhere new or doing something differnet it’s reassuring to know you’ve asked the right questions!

Can you suggest the kind of car we’d need for XXX amount of people with XXX amount of luggage, please?

Hey, the best way to do this is to use the filter on our search results page. From there you can filter the results to only show cars with the number of seats and the luggage capacity that you’ll need. #7 People asking about hiring vans, minibuses and even motorhomes and certain locations. Sometimes a small car just won’t cut it for how many people you’re travelling with!

Do you hire vans at XXXX? / Do you hire minibuses at XXX?

Hi, unfortunately, we don’t hire vans at any locations. We do offer minibuses at certain locations though. To find one, do a search for your location, dates and times and use the filter on the search results page. There, you can filter to only show vehicles which have 9 seats which are the largest we offer.

#8 Asking about the confirmation of a booking, once you’ve paid for a booking it can be unnerving to not receive your confirmation straight away, but it’s normal and just part of the process.

Hey, I made a booking last week. I’ve checked my account and it says booking Success, but I’ve still not received an email to confirm that I’m booked??

Hey, this is nothing to worry about it. We work on a request basis with our providers. This means once you make a booking, they may take a few days to confirm the availability of the vehicle. Once it’s confirmed, you’ll receive your confirmation email. This usually takes less than 24 hours though.


#9 Mistakes happen, we get lots of people asking us to make quick changes after an error, Facebook isn’t the quickest way to sort these issues but we help where we can!

I made a mistake while making my booking, could you correct it please?

Hey, the easiest way to do this and for data security purposes, is to give our customer service team a call. They’re available on 01362 852288 and they’ll be able to help you in a more secure way.


#10 Questions about offers received in an email. Another understandable question about not seeing what you expect to see.

I got an email about an offer but it’s not showing on the site????

Hi, all the offers we send out in emails are pre-applied on our site. This means the discounted price is the price you’ll see when searching. We do it this way to make sure that everyone receives the discounted prices.
