Jamaica is the land of reggae, rum and tropical temperatures. This Caribbean island makes for a perfect place to soak up some winter sun on the fabulous beaches. If you are in search of both sunshine and sightseeing this winter, check out our pick of Jamaica’s highlights.

Dunns River Falls

The Dunn’s River Falls are without a doubt the most famous waterfalls in Jamaica and deservedly so! Located near to Ocho Rios, the falls mimic giant steps which climb to a height of 600m, interspersed with gorgeous lagoon pools. Geologists describe the site as a natural phenomenon as deposits from the flowing river water enable the falls to be constantly, and naturally, rebuilt. It’s a natural oasis and visitors take great pleasure attempting to climb the slippery steps of the waterfall, as the surrounding lush vegetation shades them from the sun. Give it a go!

Bob Marley’s House & Museum

Jamaica is the home of reggae because of Bob Marley so a visit to Jamaica wouldn’t be complete without stopping by at the Bob Marley Museum. Located in Kingston, the museum is Bob’s former home and is filled with memorabilia, artifacts and other precious mementos.

The Green Grotto Caves

The Green Grotto Caves are a popular attraction that can be found on the north coast of the island in Discovery Bay. They have had a variety of different names over the years but the Green Grotto Caves is the most fitting. This is due to the high level of green algae which covers the cave walls. Several varieties of bats live within the caves and the low water levels are full of a variety of marine life. Due to the location of the caves, you can make the most of beautiful Discovery Bay on your visit.

Jamaica – Blue Mountain Peak

The highest peak in Jamaica is known as Blue Mountain Peak which stands at 7,402ft and is the second highest peak in the Caribbean after Duarte Peak in the Dominican Republic.

The area is renowned as a fabulous spot for camping and hiking. If you arrive at the peak for sunrise on a clear day, you will be rewarded with views of Cuba in the distance. The mountain is also famous for Blue Mountain Coffee.

If you are looking for a fab winter sun destination, then consider Jamaica; these highlights are just a pick of some of the best bits.
