How do you make up 10 places in one lap? Ask 16 year old Lewis Galer. After qualifying left him in 22nd position on the grid for race 1, not many could imagine what would happen next. A sheer astounding charge in the first lap saw Lewis jump to 12th, and by lap 2 he was into 11th. Chasing 10th position with clear track ahead, a slip up at turn one saw Lewis drop back slightly. With tyres fading towards the end of the race Lewis finish in an impressive 14th place.
Race 2 saw Lewis start from 14th on the grid following race 1’s result. An incident-packed 20 minute race saw many cars head towards the gravel and barriers. Closing up in the corners but then losing ground on the straights led to a frustrating race for Lewis. Perseverance ensued and Lewis ended-up bringing the MINI JCW home in 13th place.
Round 4 takes place at Donington on 23rd June. With Lewis able to make practice on Friday, we’re all hoping for a great result.
