As La Linea is so close to Gibraltar Airport, you’ll often find that any cars booked from the airport will be collected across the Spanish border in La Linea. The car rental offices are a short walk across the border from the airport so you’ll be on the road in no time. Our guide below covers collecting a hire car from Gibraltar Airport.

The suppliers

At the time of writing, we work with Autos Aguirre, Marbella Rent a Car, and Espacar who can be booked from both La Linea and Gibraltar Airport. Vehicles are all collected in La Linea.

We also offer a “Zest Recommended” service which is provided by Autos Aguirre. When booking the Zest Recommended product, Autos Aguirre will be based in Gibraltar Airport terminal and will have the car waiting for you in the airport car park.

Where do I go when I arrive?

When collecting a car from La Linea, you’ll need to exit the airport and walk the short, signposted distance across the border.

Both Marbella Rent a Car and Autos Aguirre have offices close to the border. The Autos Aguirre office is located near the Silver Diner and Marbella Rent a Car is near Burger King. Both are easy to find from the border.

Espacar don’t have an office and so a representative will meet you in the car park where the vehicle is stored.

If you’re using the Zest Recommended service, then the supplier Autos Aguirre has a desk in the arrivals hall at Gibraltar Airport for you to head to.

Collecting the hire car

Cars from Autos Aguirre, Marbella Rent a Car and Espacar are all located in the same underground car park close to the border (Fo-Cona). This is shown below. Autos Aguirre and Marbella Rent a Car will walk you there from their offices. If collecting with Espacar, their representative will meet you at the car park entrance.

If you have chosen the Zest Recommended service from Autos Aguirre, then the hire car will be delivered to you in the car park at Gibraltar Airport. You won’t need to cross into La Linea to collect.

Why choose the Zest Recommended service at Gibraltar Airport?

The Zest Recommended service is provided at Gibraltar Airport. Should you have anyone in your party that you feel could have issues with the walk to the supplier’s offices or the car park in Spain, you may find the Recommended service your best option. It’s also handy if you’re staying in Gibraltar, saving you the trip across the border and back again. You may also want to consider this option if you have a lot of luggage or are travelling late at night with children. The Recommended service comes with a fair fuel policy. For this supplier, a full tank of fuel will be supplied and the vehicle must be returned with a full tank of fuel. There are no fuel payments required upon collection.
