City Breaks and Sightseeing
February is a great time to take a city break. Travel before the warm weather draws the crowds and sightseeing becomes difficult. Be prepared to wrap up in most Northern European destinations. With plenty of interesting attractions to distract you, you’ll soon forget the cold.
1. Venice

Carnavale Venezia is a 12 day festival and the highlight of city’s social calendar. Visitors are welcomed to the numerous masked balls, parades, musical and street performances, sporting events and gondola rides through the canals. Just remember to pack an elaborate baroque mask.
2. Bruges
This exceptionally photogenic city is the epitome of medieval fairy-tale charm. Complete with cobbled streets, dreamy canals, historic market squares, soaring towers and ornate churches.
Besides the pretty façade, Bruges is also one of Europe’s beer capitals. The chocolates aren’t too bad either! Visit the De Halve Maan Brewery. Sample their award winning beers which have been being produced on site since 1564.
Winter Sun
Mediterranean countries are going to be decidedly cold at this time of year. If it’s sunshine you’re after, then head to one of these five February favourites.
1. Caribbean
In order to catch those elusive rays of warm winter sun, most holidaymakers tend to head further afield. An exotic destination such as the Caribbean makes the journey well worthwhile.
February is peak time for the Caribbean. This means that the party will be in full swing when you touch down at the airport. The white sandy beaches and twinkling blue seas of Barbados and Saint Martin will soon melt away feverish shivering.
2. Florida
This subtropical holiday hotspot is the perfect place to jet off to during February Half Term. Orlando offers endless fun at its world famous theme parks and resorts. In glamourous Miami, Mimosas by the pool are simply a must.
The mysterious Everglades also offer an exciting excursion. Take a trip on a thrilling airboat ride through the marshes. Spot the elusive alligators and crocs that lurk beneath the water.
3. Cyprus
Cyprus is perfect for those who want a little bit of everything. It’s perfect if you are looking to sun yourselves on sandy shores, go deep sea diving, or hike to historic ruins. Cyprus caters for all ages and interests.
Thanks to its closer proximity to our little isle, it’s also somewhat cheaper. Enjoy either a 5 or 7 day break or perhaps even longer. There is plenty to keep you entertained in Cyprus.
4. Egypt
This winter sun haven is every culture vultures dream. Whilst top rated all-inclusive resorts offer 5* treatment, there are plenty of sights to get you out and about.
Experience the county’s fantastic local culture. Visit the ancient historic sights and shop in the famous souqs. The Pyramids of Giza and the Valley of the Kings are always high on holidaymakers to do lists. Cool off at one of the Red Sea resorts which offer some of the best scuba diving in the world.
5. Canary Islands
The Canary Islands are a jackpot of natural beauty. Its year round sunshine makes it one of the best destinations to travel to during February Half Term.
All the islands have a warm, welcoming, fun loving atmosphere. The sunny shores of Gran Canaria and Tenerife have a variety of exciting activities to take part in. La Palma, El Hierro and La Gomera are ideal for nature lovers who prefer holidays at a more relaxing pace.
