If you are desperate for a holiday this summer but don’t want to break the bank whilst you are away, we have compiled a list of tips to help you save some money whilst on holiday:
- Why not consider a cheaper alternative for your accommodation such as a room in a nice hostel, a campsite or even holiday parks. You could stay in a chalet at a fraction of the price of a hotel. Sometimes there is the added benefit of kids clubs, on site entertainment and swimming pool included in the price. If you don’t tend to spend much time in your hotel room, it could be a great way to save some money.
- Don’t dine in expensive cafes and restaurants at lunchtime; head to the local supermarket, choose some local food and head off to the nearest beach or park for a picnic in the sunshine.
- Visit cheaper countries. Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey are great options for a cheap holiday and provide something for everyone.
- Avoid using your mobile phone to contact people at home as you will usually get stung by expensive fees which you won’t find out about until your bill arrives. Alternatively, consider purchasing an international SIM card.
- Search for a credit or debit card which doesn’t charge excessive commission rates.
- Check out when the foreign school holidays are scheduled. Sometimes they can end sooner than the summer holidays in the UK so if you can wait a week or so longer, you might find the prices considerably cheaper.
- Lastly, book early for cheap car hire deals.
With our money saving tips, you can still enjoy a break away without having to pull on the purse strings.
