The Foreign Office is encouraging Brits who are travelling abroad to visit family and friends to purchase travel insurance.
A recent study shows that 12 million Brits are expected to visit friends and family this year however one-third of those included in the survey admitted that they had not purchased adequate insurance cover in a bid to save money. Results also showed however that younger people are more likely to buy a gift for their host rather than take out adequate protection.
The Foreign Office ran the study as part of its ‘Know before You Go’ campaign.
Whilst staying with people you know certainly has its benefits, it does not eradicate the possibility of seriously injuring yourself or becoming ill during your time away. Therefore the Foreign Office is encouraging travellers to do some research in advance and purchase adequate cover so you can enjoy a safe and happy holiday in the knowledge that you are covered whatever may happen!
