Whether you’re new to travelling or are a seasoned backpacker, these innovative travel accessories can turn anyone into a globetrotting pro!

1. Power bank for portable charging

In the modern era of technology, travelling without a phone or electronic device is becoming near impossible! A power bank ensures you can charge your phone or electronic devices if their batteries are drained or there’s a lack of wall outlets in the vicinity. The price of a power bank is determined by how much power you’re wanting to store.

2. Noise cancelling earbuds or headphones

In our humble opinion, these are an essential travel accessory if you’re travelling by plane! With the noise and commotion of a busy airport or plane, noise cancelling headphones will allow you to cut off the chaos and be alone with your music or downloaded media whilst you await your travels. Headphones can vary in price with pricier models providing better noise cancelling and sound quality than what you find from budget ones!

3. Portable speaker

If you plan to spend a large amount of time relaxing at your accommodation, it may be a good idea to invest in a small portable speaker. A speaker will mean you can play music or have better sound quality when you watch media on your phone or tablet. Like headphones, with speakers you will pay for the sound quality you want to receive so do your research and budget accordingly!

4. Packing cubes

A large suitcase can become a mess when your items and clothing aren’t neatly organised. Packing cubes can be an excellent way to organise your clothing into your suitcase. These cubes will come in a variety of different sizes that slot nicely into your suitcase turning any traveller into a packing pro. Packing cubes can be purchased from online stores such as Antler

5. Reusable travel bottles

Sometimes your favourite shampoo and shower gels don’t come in travel size, meaning their larger counterparts won’t be able to be taken on a plane. Instead of buying overpriced travel shower gel, consider investing in travel bottles that can filled with your favourite products! Travel bottles can be purchased in cosmetic stores or from online retailers such OneNine5 that stocks a range of eco-friendly travel products.

6. Luggage scale

A luggage scale can be perfect for those who are looking to push the limits of how much luggage they can bring home with them while still conforming to their designated weight limit. Weighing your bag prior to travelling will help prevent you from having to reorganising your luggage at the airport or even being stuck with an added fee due to additional weight. Scales can be purchased online and are often cheaper than what you’d pay if you had to upgrade at the front desk!

7. Portable fan

A portable fan can be a game changer if you’re travelling to hot and humid destination! Consider buying a cheap handheld pocket fan or splash out on a fancier neck fan that goes around you head, perfect for a hot stuffy flight!

8. Collapsible water bottle

Large water bottles can take up far too much space, especially after having to be emptied before entering airport security! A collapsible travel bottle can be folded up when empty to ensure your precious luggage space isn’t taken up by an empty bottle. Collapsible water bottle brands such Vapur can be purchased from Amazon and other online retailers alike.

9. Micro fibre towel

Compared to regular towels, micro fibre towels are smaller in size and lighter in weight making them an excellent space saver for your suitcase. Furthermore, due to their smaller fibres they’re far more absorbent and are quicker to dry! Micro fibre towels can be purchased from a range of different travel and outdoor specialist retailers such as Mountain Warehouse.

10. Travel steamer

Your clothes can easily become creased in all the excitement of travel and can especially become an issue if you’re planning to dress formally. If your accommodation doesn’t have an available iron, then a travel steamer might be a good addition to your packing list! Simply plug in, add water, and steam the creases out of your clothing. Phillips do a range of quality affordable travel steamers that are foldable to save space in your bag.

11. Ride on suitcase for kids AND adults

Ride along suitcases can be perfect to entertain your child and keep them from getting tired while at the airport! Trunki offers a variety of ride along suitcases with designs ranging from ladybirds to dinosaurs.

With a steep price tag and the cost of looking rather ridiculous, an electric ride on suitcase for adults can be a quick and fun way to get around the airport without your legs getting tired!

Even the sunniest of destinations have rainy days! Make sure to pack some waterproof clothing, rain ponchos or a fold up rain jackets. This can be great way to save room whilst still preparing for worst weather. Lightweight umbrellas can also be a great spacing-saving way to protect yourself from rain.

13. Car phone holder for your rental car

If you’re renting a car in a foreign country, you will likely need some form of navigation. Some rental cars without an internal Satnav will need to have a Satnav hired as a local added extra.
