A Teletext survey has found that the average Briton takes 120 holidays in a lifetime, costing a total of £168,000. The study showed that from the age of 18, the average British holidaymaker will spend £2,750 a year on breaks away, which equates to £860 per person.
UK hotspots such as Newquay, London, Blackpool and Brighton are popular with young people looking to take a trip without their parents for the first time. Amsterdam is a favourite for stag and hen parties, whilst the Maldives proves a hit with honeymooners. Australia, as always provides the experience of a life time for gap year students and those in their retirement. Teenagers adore Florida, as do young families, whilst the party isle Ibiza still proves popular with those in their twenties.
