Following trials this summer, popular no-frills airline easyJet recently announced that they will introduce allocated seating on all flights from November 2012.
Results showed that 70% of those surveyed said that the current boarding process was a source of stress during their travels and that allocated seating would be preferred.
Therefore from November, all passengers will have a seat allocated to them. This will either be allocated by easyJet or passengers can choose a preferred seat with three different price bands applied to the most popular seats on the aircraft.
Seats that are requested on the front and exit seats, all of which have extra legroom, will incur a £12.00 fee on top of the flight fare. Seats that are requested on rows two to five or six will be subject to an additional £8.00 charge with any other requested seat subject to an additional £3.00 charge. Seats that are allocated by easyJet will incur no additional charge.
easyjet Plus cardholders and Flexi Fare customers will be able to select seats free of charge and still enjoy the ‘speedy boarding’ perk.
The allocated seating policy will be rolled out over a fortnight from the middle of November 2012.
