A sprawling metropolis on the shores of Lake Ontario, Toronto is one of few cities in Canada. With famous natural sights just a stone’s throw away, surrounded by breathtaking surroundings, not to mention the excitement and attractions on offer in the city itself, Toronto is a truly fantastic base for your Canadian adventure. To help you start planning your trip to Toronto, here is a pick of 5 great things to do on a visit here.

CN Tower

For awe inspiring views across the city, there really is no competition to the mammoth CN Tower. Drink in the 360° panoramic views from one of the tallest buildings in the world. Plan your ascent for a clear day when you can enjoy the best views which extend all the way to Niagara Falls from the Sky Pod which sits at 1,465ft. The glass floors provide perspective as to just how high you are. Try out the fairly self-explanatory Edge Walk if you’re brave enough. Let the adrenaline settle with a delicious meal at the 360° restaurant.

Ontario Science Centre

Don’t give the Ontario Science Centre a miss. Some of the exhibits and attractions here are one of a kind. Families with children are guaranteed to have an enjoyable day. The various zones incorporate hands on exhibitions including everything from rainforests to a tornado machine and a soundproof tunnel to a giant electricity ball, plus plenty more. The IMAX theatre is also worth a visit!

Niagara Falls

The most famous waterfall in the world is found on the opposite side of the lake roughly 130km away. No visit to Toronto would be complete without making the journey to Niagara Falls. Draining Lake Erie into Lake Ontario, these powerful falls are breath-taking. Many suggest that the best way to experience it is up close and personal on a Maid of the Mist boat ride, where the roar of the water is comparable only to the thrill.

Comedy Clubs

If there’s one thing that Canadians love more than ice hockey, it’s their comedy scene. You will find a huge number of comedy clubs across the city. What better evening entertainment is there? Some of the best regarded clubs include Absolute Comedy; Yuk Yuk’s where you combine dinner with laughs or The Second City which showcased the big names of Mike Myers and Steve Carrell. Whichever you visit, you are sure to have a great time.

Sailing in Toronto harbour

Lakefront

The Lakefront is a hive of activity. It’s great to spend some time and get involved in the activities on offer. For starters, why not pack a picnic and take a ferry ride to the Toronto Islands. Enjoy numerous sports like tennis and golf, hire bicycles and have fun in the amusement area. If that doesn’t appeal why not top up your culture and get involved in the high number of cultural events that take place here and be sure to visit the Power Plant Art Gallery and during the summer.

This is just a pick of five great things to do in Toronto, but rest assured in a city as big as this, there is plenty more entertainment and attractions to be enjoyed.
