The summer season is here and many of us are packing our bags for our holiday. However, it looks like the ‘busy holiday period’ will stretch on for a little while longer!
When are people travelling in 2022?
Our recent survey has found that many of our customers are taking additional holidays in September or October. Travelling after the summer peak season will naturally be slightly cheaper for many travellers, however, it will unlikely be quieter!
Flights, hotels, and car rental are likely to have less availability than usual non-peak seasons. Demand to travel is still high and numerous people have delayed their travel plans for a cheaper period due to high prices and low availability.
How our customers travel plans are being affected this year
In our survey we also asked about what has affected their holidays the most this year. Rising car rental prices and last-minute cancellations from flights or COVID are our customers biggest issues.
If you ever have any concerns about your holiday, give us a call and we’ll be more than happy to provide any travel or car rental advice.
Is it better to book car rental in advance?
Unfortunately, high car rental prices and low availability are still going to be an issue going into 2023 so our advice still stands. As mentioned in our prior blogs, we recommend you book your car rental and travel arrangements as far in advance as possible. This will help you secure a better price as well as securing your plans before they potentially become fully booked up! With our Book Now Pay Later policy, you can secure your rental in advance without having to pay upfront.

How to save against rise in the cost of living
We understand that the rise in the cost of living with ramped up fuel prices may have affected the way you’ve booked your holiday. Here’s a few tips on how to save when travelling in 2022:
- In our search results page, you can filter the cars to refine your preference for cars that may be cheaper to rent and run.
- Save on your car rental when you subscribe to our newsletter for exclusive provider deals.
- Cut out unneeded upgrades or extras! Instead of getting a Sat Nav as an extra, use an offline mobile navigation app!
- Avoid peak seasons and book in advance.
Flight cancellations and COVID-19
Flight cancellations and delays are predicted to be an ongoing issue throughout the summer season. According to Sky News, airlines have been unable to define a date for when flight issues will conclude.
When booking with Zest, you can cancel and claim a full refund up to 48 hours before the rental begins. For a small fee of £0.50 per day, you can get enhanced protection which protects you within that 48-hour period. If your flight gets cancelled or if you can no longer travel due to COVID, give us a call and we’ll help you with your booking.
