At Zest we love a road trip. Being a car hire broker means it kind of comes with the territory. Getting in a car and having the freedom to explore many locations in one trip, means you fill your holiday with many different experiences. A trip across the USA for instance? You get to experience the ever-changing landscapes and inter-state cultures. Exploring the South Coast of the UK gives you the opportunity explore sandy beaches, rocky coves and quaint towns. While we love to write our own, we thought we’d share the love. We’ve scoured the web to find our favourite road trips blogs from others.
Tourist 2 Townie – Ireland Road Trip
Kicking things off close to home with Tourist 2 Townie’s Ireland Road Trip. The main standout we loved from this blog was how the images really told the story. The copy is minimal but it’s enough to tell the story. And make you want to go to Ireland too!
Gareth spends 6 days navigating the best of the island. Starting in Dublin, he heads across the border to Belfast. In the North, he explores The Dark Hedges and Giant’s Causeway, before travelling back across the Irish border for Galway and The Cliffs of Moher. If you’re planning on going to Ireland anytime soon, here’s the place to grab some inspiration!
The Blonde Abroad – 10 Day California Road Trip
It’s a little different when somebody writes about a road trip that’s so close to their home but Kiki, a Californian native, does just that.
Starting in San Francisco, she makes her way down to Los Angeles. On the way, stopping at Big Sur, Paso Robles and Santa Barbara to take in the sights, smells and tastes of each area. Any road trip blog should inspire you to take the drive yourself. Kiki’s 10 Day California Coast Itinerary certainly doesn’t disappoint here. Get planning!
Just Travelous – Scotland Beginners Tour
This is another where the images are the star of the show! Yvonne uses some great imagery to showcase Scotland in all its glory in this road trip blog. The road trip starts in Edinburgh, the capital.
Yvonne travels around Scotland visiting castles, valleys and lochs (of course Loch Ness features!). If you visit Scotland in July, you can spectate the famous Highland Games. Will you find Nessie on your trip?
On The Luce – Southwest USA Road Trip
This is Lucy’s ultimate road trip for a two-week break. It’s 2000 miles long and covers 5 states in the Southwest of the USA. We love this trip for its all-out classic USA road trip vibe!
The trip starts in Las Vegas (where else?!) before heading to Utah and the Zion National Park with its red rock and hiking trails. The next part of the trip encompasses some beautiful canyon scenery and Horseshoe Bend, one of the most famous parts of the Colorado River! Next, Lucy takes us to Monument Valley, Santa Fe in New Mexico. The final stretch takes us along Route 66 to the Grand Canyon and back to Las Vegas. If this blog doesn’t get you planning a road trip, we don’t know what will!
Ytravel – A Family Road Trip in South West England
Back in our homeland, the UK! Andrew explores the South West of England, specifically Dorset and Devon, two of the most beautiful counties in the UK.
Starting in Charmouth as a base, the road trip heads to Lyme Regis on the English Riviera. Not quite as pretty or warm as France or Italy but still worth a visit, nonetheless. Next heading to the Jurassic Coast (we’ve covered that one before!) and Burton Bradstock, the tall cliffs giving a wonderful panoramic view. After visiting castles and abbeys, the final destination is Beer. Who wouldn’t want to end a UK road trip there?
Make Time to See the World – Road Trip USA Coast to Coast
This one needs no introduction. Who wouldn’t want to head from California to New York?
The first week starts in the super laid-back town of Santa Monica. Before heading through Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon and finishing up in Monument Valley. Week 2 moves through New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana with Santa Fe, Austin and New Orleans all on the menu. The final stretch of the journey begins in Elvis land, Memphis, then through Virginia, Washington DC and ending in the Big Apple, New York.
Keep Calm and Travel – Italy Road Trip
According to Clelia, nothing beats driving around Italy and we cannot agree more! To truly experience Italy, you need to drive and take a road trip. This one from Rome to Florence, Bologna, Turin, Milan and finally Lake Como, really takes some beating.
Clelia starts in Rome and the beautiful architecture that makes this ancient city so memorable. Next, heading into the stunning flowing hills of Tuscany. The Mediterranean coasts of the Cinque Terre and Liguria are up next – if you love azure blue seas and quaint fishing towns, this is the place for you! Finally, the trip heads north for Turin before ending up in Milan and Lake Como – we’ve also written about this one before!
We hope you enjoy reading these road trip blogs just as much as we did. If you plan a trip as a result, let us know in the comments!
Interesting and useful info. Thanks.
