Round 6 at Brands Hatch was a mixed weekend for Lewis Galer. After switching to JWB Motorsport at the previous round at the Mini Festival – also at Brands – Lewis was feeling confident heading into this weekend.
With a new team and a positive two test days behind him, Lewis put the Mini JCW 16th on the grid for race one. Lewis moved up through the pack to 12th but an incident at Paddock Hill Bend brought the race to a premature halt with a red flag. After the race, Lewis received a penalty which meant he’d be starting Race 2 from 20th position. Lewis wasn’t happy.
However race two was very different from race one. An aggressive few overtakes in the opening half of the race saw Lewis close in on 9th place and looking to achieve his best result of the season. A cat and mouse game ensued with the 9th place driver defending well. This allowed the car behind Lewis catch up and eventually out-drag him to the finish line leaving Lewis in 11th place. Fantastic result.
A new team combined with a renewed confidence head to Donington on the 14-15th September for the penultimate round of the season.
