Update: This change is now in effect across Europe. You’ll now see the new labels we’ve talked about whenever you fill up at the pumps in Europe.
On 12th October 2018, a new labelling system for petrols and diesels came into effect across Europe. This means if you’re going to be filling up at the pumps in Europe soon, you’ll need to be clued up about what’s new.
- Petrol unleaded 98 will now be a bold circle with “E5” inside
- Petrol unleaded 95 will now be a bold circle with “E10” inside
- Diesel / gasoline will now be a bold square with “B7” inside
- LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) will now be a bold diamond with “LPG” inside.
These changes are all part of a European directive to clear up and organise the labelling of fuels at the pumps, ultimately making it easier for travellers.
Most car hire providers will detail the changes to you in some way. If you’ve got any questions feel free to contact us, otherwise, check out full, detailed information on the new labels here.
