Off-airport parking | On-site airport parking | Meet & greet parking | Park with zest

You’ve booked your flights, the accommodation and your car hire, and might be thinking that you’ve got your holiday planned. No more planning to do. But you could be forgetting to consider how you’re getting to the airport to fly away. Perhaps you could be lucky enough in that a bus or taxi isn’t out of the question. The bus ride for some could be too long and taxi too expensive, so driving there may be your preferred option. Zest Car Rental gives an overview of the different options available to you for airport parking when you arrive. Remember, as with car hire, it’s always best to pre-book as far in advance as possible to avoid issues with availability and increasing costs.

Top tip: Different airports will provide different parking options and different processes. Always read the terms of each option available to you to assist you weighing up the pros and cons.

Off-airport parking

These large car parks are close to the airport but not on-site. You may be required to drive to the reception of the car park and then hand your keys over to a team member. They’ll then park your car in the appropriate allocated space. Alternatively, you can enter the car park and find a free space. You’ll need to remember where your car is parked so you can find it when you return. These car parks use Number Plate Recognition (NPR) which will allow you entry and exit through the barriers.

Once your car is parked up, there’ll be a shuttle bus or coach provided to transport you and your luggage to the terminal building. The cost of this will be included in your parking.

Great for: those on a budget. This type of airport parking is often the most cost-effective option as it can be the least convenient of the options available.

On-site airport parking

Like the off-site airport parking except these are located closer to the airport and within the grounds. The processes are the same as above except your distance from the airport is less. A short shuttle bus may be required, or usually you can walk.

Great for: those looking for better security and a convenient but cost-effective option.

Meet and greet airport parking

This super convenient option is often the most expensive, but you get what you pay for. It’s the quickest way to get your car parked and into the terminal, mainly because you’re not doing the parking. You drive direct to the terminal where a representative will meet you. You hand over your keys and they’ll park the car for you in a secure facility, leaving you to head straight off into the terminal. When you return, it’s likely that you can either collect your car from the car park or have it ready and waiting outside the terminal building.

Great for: those with limited time to check in or who want to avoid the hassle of parking.

Airport parking your way

With Park with Zest you can easily compare the airport parking options available to you at whichever airport you’re flying from. It’s also easy book both your car hire and your airport parking at the same time. Booking your airport parking is provided through a partner agency, Airport Parking and Hotels (APH), who Zest Car Rental have teamed up with to ensure you can book your airport parking in advance with ease.
