Australia enjoys it hottest months from December – February whilst we are left to experience our coldest weather of the year. Being such a large country, conditions do vary from place to place. It offers such a diverse range of sights and activities to try, you will certainly be able to soak up some sunshine, sample some fabulous fresh food and marvel at the stunning surroundings. Why not encounter some of Australia’s highlights?

Great Barrier Reef & Daintree National Park

Arrange to stay in the gorgeous Port Douglas. It’s located in the tropics, so you may be subjected to some rain and humid weather during your stay. Arrange to take a trip to the Daintree National Park, hop on a boat and seek a Croc spotting adventure. Stop by at the beautiful Mossman Gorge, before heading to the truly breath-taking Cape Tribulation, an absolute paradise. The Daintree Rainforest contains a wide variety of flora and fauna, just remember, do no touch anything, it’s much safer that way! Port Douglas is also a great place to find a great spot to snorkel, or even scuba dive around one or more of the sections of the Barrier Reef. Green Island is also worth a visit, and you can easily swim into the waters and view some of the reef.

Darwin

Spend some time at the coastal town of Darwin, nestled in the Northern Territory. Sample the wonders of the tropical climate here. Berry Springs provides a vast array of activities to keep everyone occupied. View the wondrous waterfall and why not dive in the waters for a swim to cool off. Just a short distance away you will find the Territory National Park, where there are numerous walking trails for all to enjoy. If you are feeling especially brave, why not also visit Crocosaurus Cove and swim with the crocs!

Sunshine Coast

Blessed with more than 100km of white sand to sample, this long stretch of coastline contains a fabulous mixture of places in which you can relax, or simply marvel at the greenery and scenery. Mooloolaba is great for a family day out, packed with areas for picnics and playgrounds to keep the little ones amused.

No trip to this area would be complete without stopping off at Noosa, well-known for being elegant and its close proximity to Fraser Island. Packed with superb restaurants, and having one of the few north facing beaches, the calm conditions are perfect for those who wish to learn to surf. Away from the golden beaches, you can also wander through the Noosa coastal hinterland bursting with lakes and forests to explore. The Glasshouse Mountains are also a wonderful place to stop and admire the views, or try something more energetic like abseiling.

Coffs Harbour

Famous for its booming banana industry, you can’t miss an outing to the Big Banana, an action packed theme park. Once you have finished this adventure, arrange a trip to the Solitary Islands Marine Park. This large expanse will take some exploring but is a great opportunity to view a diverse range of habitats and marine species. Drive through the Orara Valley and take in the picturesque views over the Hinterland.
