Music events in Corsica in 2016
Festimusica, L’Île Rousse – June 2016
In the third week of June; L’Île Rousse, a small commune on the island of Corsica plays host to Festimusica. Here, the folk music of Corsica, Tuscany and Sardinia are celebrated and highlighted on an open air stage in the middle of the town centre.
It’s a feast for all the senses and a chance to really experience the music that originated from this area. Drink in the atmosphere, boosted by the passionate locals.
Festival du Jazz, Calvi – June 2016
If folk music isn’t to your taste, a visit to Calvi is in order for the annual Festival du Jazz. This also takes place towards the end of June. There are many internationally recognised Jazz musicians who play. You may even get to see a jazz legend or two!

Calvi on the Rocks, Calvi – July 2016
For both the young at heart and lovers of contemporary dance music, look no further than the Calvi on the Rocks festival.
It will be held from the 4th to 9th July in 2016. This may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you fancy dancing the night away on the beach, this is for you.
Les Nuits de la Guitare, Patrimonio – July 2016
For secret guitar heroes, a trip to Les Nuits de la Guitare is a must! It’s an international festival held from 19th to 26th July 2016.
It highlights one of the popular musical instruments; the humble guitar! From jazz, to rock and even blues, you’re bound to be strumming along in no time at this music event dedicated to all things chords, strings and picks!
Porto Latino, St Florent – August 2016
Grab your dancing shoes and head to the Porto Latino in St Florent from 2nd to 5th August.
If you like Cuban and Latino bands, the town celebrates in style; you may not be able to keep up with the locals!
Musica Classica, Santa Reparata di Balagna – August 2016
Enjoy a slower pace at the Violin and Traditional Instrument Festival.

Travelling later in the year?
Even if you’re arriving out of season there is still lots on offer.
Head over to the 4 day long festival called the Recontres de Chants Polyphoniques from September 14-18th. It’s put together by the band A Filetta.
You may fancy taking a trip to Bastia in the first two weeks of October. A variety of different venues put on live music throughout the town during this time.
