If you like these hacks, why not try some of our other travel tips articles that are packed full of useful advice?

Be prepared…

The more prepared you are the less stress you will encounter. One of the most useful items you can take with you is a pen. It is often required that you need to fill in landing cards, and filling them in whilst you are still in the air can save you lots of time at passport control.

It is always handy to have a copy of your passport in case it gets lost or stolen. Make sure you scan your passport and download it to your smart phone before you leave for an offline copy. If you don’t have a smart phone then you can print it out and keep a copy with you.

Avoid money problems when you’re away by notifying your bank where you are travelling to. There is nothing worse than realising that your account has been blocked due to unusual activity and having to clock up a huge phone bill sorting it out.

Keep it organised…

One of the hardest things to do when packing is to keep your things organised. Especially for small items like jewellery. One great travel hack is to separate your jewellery by putting them in weekly pill dividers. This way you can keep each item in its own small box.

In the modern day we are taking more and more electronic equipment with us when we go on holiday. With this has come an abundance of chargers. They seem to take up more and more of my luggage and they need containing. A glasses case makes a perfect home for the cables keeping them neat, tidy and organised.

Space saving is paramount…

If you have read some of our other travel articles such as ‘How to pack hand luggage for a one week trip’, you will appreciate that saving space when you pack is one of our top tips. Although it may seem unnatural, roll clothing rather than folding when you pack. Not only will this save space but it will keep your clothes more crease free than folding.

Stay smart…

If travelling for business or even if you are just taking a formal shirt. A good way to pack these is by rolling a belt up and placing it on the interior of the collar. It keeps the collar crisp, saves space when packing your belt, and means you will have less ironing to do before you wear it. Win, win… win!

Google maps with no internet…

When trying to navigate around a new city or town it is useful to have a map to hand. We are so used to having access to maps on our smart phones that we take it for granted. When travelling abroad the use of mobile data will cost a fortune so you can’t rely on getting your maps online. Instead, when you have a Wi-Fi connection type ‘OK Maps’ into the search bar in google maps and it saves the area for offline viewing, you can also select ‘offline maps’ to select the area you wish to save. You can save entire cities offline which can be really useful.

Get your bag first…

If you mark your suitcase as fragile it is often given special treatment. It should ensure that it is not bashed about in the usual manner, but also it means that it is placed on top of the other luggage. As a result, this hack means that it will be the first to be unloaded at your destination so you don’t need to wait as long.
